Elders’ Stories

Stories connect and form cultural bridges from one generation to the next.

The Elders Stories component of The Stories Inside Me connects youth to the community elders. Not just through writing, but illustrations, poems, songs and video.

From kindergarten to high school, young writers are given the resources to seek stories from their elders, and share those stories with the community. Especially with the opportunity to collect all of the stories for a published book to celebrate community history.

The program begins in January of 2025.

it takes a thousand voices to tell a single story.

I think story matters because it’s a part of who you are and it brings all of us together.”
